1. What I’m inspired by: The pursuit of value! Everywhere I turn, it seems funds are in a desperate and unrelenting chase for value; Kippa gets a $3.2m pre-seed, Shuttlers raises $1.6m, DrugStoc secures $4.4m Series A and so much more, lending credence to the fact that resources will always gravitate towards solutions that provide value!

2. What I’m reading: The 100 Best Inventions of 2021. TIME has compiled a list that cuts across markets; education, artificial intelligence, transportation, finance, style, etc. You might want to check it out. Who knows, that “futuristic” idea you’ve been guarding so close for fear of being stolen, might actually be….a little too late? See list here: https://lnkd.in/e32_zXwx

3. What I’m excited about: Learn am by force! Well, that’s what the current LearnAM campaign says we should do. In an EdTech market that has witnessed a pandemic- accelerated explosion, most platforms, expectedly, look like identical twins. LearnAM however, tries to be the distant cousin, with its unique twist– an app that allows you learn in local languages including pidgin. Over 5,000 app downloads since a September launch, an integrated marketing strategy, plenty of fresh entrant goodwill and lots of buzz, the LearnAM app looks promising and we are all for it! For more, learn am for here: http://learnam.africa/

4. What I did: Relived the lost art of listening to a music album from 1st track to the last while lying down and doing nothing, without feeling guilty! Remember when you instinctively knew what the next song was, because your memory had queued it that way? These days, our memories can’t hold scripture verses, phone numbers, or routes to specific places –even after having driven there several times! Thanks #googlemaps . Well, back to the music, you should try it. Absolutely therapeutic. Let me know what album you’ld be listening to.

5. What’s up: #Portugal’s new law on the “Right to Rest” ( https://lnkd.in/eGqdasRe ) under which employers are banned from texting employees outside work hours, and obligated “to pay part of electrical and internet bills of staff who work from home”, amongst other stipulations! Hailed as “one of the boldest efforts to regulate remote work” ( https://lnkd.in/emv2KhmY), add The Great Resignation and a burgeoning ‘gig economy’, it seems employees hold the knife and the cake! Waiting for when this hits our part of the world as a national policy. Till then, this weekend, please exercise your right to rest!

Enjoy!

Every Friday-ish, I do a quick round up of 5 things; What I’m Inspired by, What I’m Reading, What I’m Excited About, What I Did and What’s Up! These are my takes on 5 significant, sublime and sometimes silly stuff! Follow me on Medium so you don’t miss this! Feedback’s great so don’t forget to clap, like, comment and share with others. Again…enjoy! #5WhatsFridays
