1. What I’m inspired by: The power of self-love and my journey in learning how to extend more grace to myself. I like this quote by Srividya Srinivasan: “Be very, very, very gentle with yourself. The world is very, very hard on you.”

2. What I’m reading: Tonnes of academic literature. Sorry. 😊

3. What I’m excited about: A number of events and outings against the backdrop of high pressure this coming week! Phew! If this is you, take it easy. This, too, shall pass.

4. What I did: Got swept away by a wave of patriotism. Studying for a governance paper had me thinking about public service delivery in Nigeria, taking my mind down an alley of innovative possibilities. I realise my LSE experience has been holistic; the social innovation modules put communities in context, showing how to deal with issues from the bottom, while that of public service innovation points me to the top. I reflected on the few times I had actually experienced good governance, and of course, the tenure of former Governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Raji Fashola (BRF), came to mind. Some nostalgia and a Google search led me to this interesting interview with BRF talking about life after public service and more:

5. What’s up: A reminder on the brevity of life. I lost a dear mentor in the course of the week. It was painful for so many reasons. I might share later, but in the meantime, the prayer remains the same, “Teach us to number our days and to apply our hearts unto understanding.”

Enjoy!

Every Friday-ish, I do a quick round up of 5 things; What I’m Inspired by, What I’m Reading, What I’m Excited About, What I Did and What’s Up! These are my takes on 5 significant, sublime and sometimes silly stuff! Follow me on Medium so you don’t miss this! Feedback’s great so don’t forget to clap, like, comment and share with others. Again…enjoy! #5WhatsFridays
