1. What I’m inspired by: “Everything good will come”, the title of Seffi Atta’s beautiful novel, but in this context, a soothing reminder to myself that my best is still ahead of me.

2. What I’m reading: The concept of “laughter padding” and its effect on work conversations. You know that unnecessary and exaggerated laugh that punctuates uneasy conversations? That’s it. More here: https://lnkd.in/e_Kz-DYv

3. What I’m excited about: End of term! Yes, I blinked and 11 weeks went by. This holiday, I plan to pause being a student in London and embrace being a tourist in London. There is a world of difference between those two and I hope to explore that gap!

4. What I did: Attended the 2024 LSE Africa Summit themed “African Minds, Transforming Futures: Building Resilient Education Systems.” Main takeaway? The challenges surrounding education in Africa are hydra-headed, yet not insurmountable. It was an honour to have met His Excellency, Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki. As an Edo girl, I had to pay homage in Afemai, “eese”. 🙂 Also Nonny Patricia Ugboma, who graciously shared lessons from her PhD journey with me. Kudos to the organising team for putting together a fantastic student-led conference andMicheline B. Habineza for the fun company always.LSE Firoz Lalji Institute for Africa Programme for African Leadership

5. What’s up: “Where to start with: Buchi Emecheta,” a list of recommended books by the Nigerian author, marking the 50th anniversary of her book Second Class Citizen, which I read in my teens. I acutely remember feeling transported into this unfamiliar world with strong and sombre themes that paled in contrast to my naive early youth. It is definitely worth adding to your holiday reading list. See recommendations here: https://lnkd.in/eM3YWw5a

Enjoy!
